Permit Reports
Find out who is building and where with the HBA’s monthly residential permit reports. The HBA gathers this highly relevant data thanks to a unique relationship with the permit departments in the eight counties and seventy cities that comprise the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Every month the HBA provides this valuable information in a variety of reports that are available by subscription and include a detailed report, monthly hot sheet, individual address report, subdivision activity report, builder activity report and a statistical report. First Quarter New Home Construction Indicates Early Recovery
The March 2012 residential permit statistics indicate a significant jump over 2011 for the same quarter last year. This year’s first quarter recorded 712 total units compared to last year’s first quarter number of 391. The numbers were bolstered by 41 multi-family rental units in Kansas City, Kansas. With the addition of 269 starts in March, the Greater Kansas City area has not seen a first quarter this good since the first quarter of 2008 prior to the financial crisis. (more…)
Kansas City New Home Construction is an Improving Market
Good news from the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City as February 2012 residential permit statistics indicate continued improvement for the first time since 2008. Once again like January, the month of February shows single family housing starts were their strongest in four years. With 182 starts, February substantially exceeded totals for the month of February in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Not since 2008 when there were 262 permits pulled in February has the area seen this much single family activity. (more…)
Housing Begins 2012 with Good Numbers and Good Weather
According to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City, January single family housing starts were their strongest in four years. With 188 starts, January substantially exceeded totals for the month of January in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Not since 2008 when there were 221 permits pulled in January has the area seen this much single family activity. (more…)
Housing Finishes 2011 with 6 Percent Gain Over 2010
Multi-family housing units helped boost the overall residential permit statistics to higher territory in 2011 according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City’s (HBA) monthly Residential Building Permit Statistics report. The year ended on an up note with 2,901 compared to 2,724 in 2010, but still below the total in 2009 of 3,652. (more…)
November Home Permits Relatively Strong in Jackson and Johnson Counties
Jackson County in Missouri and Johnson County in Kansas continue to lead building permit activity and carry positive numbers for the year to date 2011over 2010, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City’s (HBA) monthly Residential Building Permit Statistics report. Blue Springs, Independence, Greenwood, Oak Grove, and Lee’s Summit are having a better year than 2010, but other cities have not fared as well. (more…)
October Home Building Activity Maintains Steady Pace
October permit activity remained steady for the year, posting the seventh consecutive month of 200-plus single-family permits in the metropolitan region. According to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City’s (HBA) monthly Residential Building Permit Statistics report, October had 205 single family units, bringing the annual total to 1,909.
Through ten months of 2011, permit activity is down 8.6 percent from 2010. Compared to 2009, the lowest year on record for permit activity, 2011 is 7 percent higher than the same point two years ago. (more…)
