Kansas Area Council Lunch: Bob Regnier, Bank of Blue Valley

Build PAC Hosts Donor Appreciation Event
Donors and a guest are invited, Thursday, May 17, 2012, 5:30-8 p.m. to an evening of celebration and appreciation at the Stonehaus Farms Vineyard & Winery in Lee’s Summit. A key reason for the HBA’s strength is its aggressive political affairs program. The HBA is associated with four local political action committees and it is one of the strongest supporters in the nation for NAHB’s BUILD-PAC. Contributions allow HBA members the opportunity to support candidates who understand the importance of the housing industry at home and nationwide.

First Quarter New Home Construction Indicates Early Recovery
The March 2012 residential permit statistics indicate a significant jump over 2011 for the same quarter last year. This year’s first quarter recorded 712 total units compared to last year’s first quarter number of 391. The numbers were bolstered by 41 multi-family rental units in Kansas City, Kansas. With the addition of 269 starts in March, the Greater Kansas City area has not seen a first quarter this good since the first quarter of 2008 prior to the financial crisis. (more…)

Demand for the Spring Parade of Homes Guide has been overwhelming and the supply is exhausted at the HBA, I-435 & Holmes. Parade homes may still have copies. However, the information is all available online on the Spring Parade of Homes webpage where you’ll find the Parade Guide and an online home search.
Kansas City Star Reports on the KC Spring Housing Market
The Kansas City Star reports on the mild rebound in the housing industry on the advent of the 50th anniversary of the Spring Parade of Homes. Missouri South Area Council: State of the Appraisal Industry
Tuesday, April 10, learn now appraisals continue to be a major factor impacting the housing industry. Mark Maschger, SRA, immediate past chair of the Kansas City Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, will provide a “State of the Appraisal Industry” at Garozzo’s in Lee’s Summit. Mortgage Interest Deduction Still Under Attack: HBA Bolsters Efforts
At the Board of Directors meeting on March 20 the HBA renewed its affiliation with the Kansas Building Industry Alliance which includes HBAs from throughout the state of Kansas. This new lobbying partnership will help bolster the voice of the housing industry in Topeka at the Kansas state capitol; a voice that is needed now more than ever with the threat of the mortgage interest deduction being eliminated or reduced from Kansas homeowners and aspiring new homeowners. Kansas City New Home Construction is an Improving Market
Good news from the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City as February 2012 residential permit statistics indicate continued improvement for the first time since 2008. Once again like January, the month of February shows single family housing starts were their strongest in four years. With 182 starts, February substantially exceeded totals for the month of February in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Not since 2008 when there were 262 permits pulled in February has the area seen this much single family activity. (more…)
